I can login using any browser. The issue is trying to connect using the MAC OS Mail program, Thunderbird, et cetera.
The error I get with the Mail program is:

'Logging in to the Hotmail POP server “pop3.live.com” failed. Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then click Continue. If the information isn’t correct, you cannot receive messages.'
The error I get with Thunderbird is:
'Username or password invalid'
'Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong?'
I get these errors using the same login information that I connect via browser (successfully). So the information has to be correct, right? Also, I've changed my password several times to see if that fixed it, but it did not.

Logging in with a browser only requires entering your email address and password.
Logging in with an email program requires using certain authentication and port settings.
Here’s the information to configure your account on your preferred e-mail client:

• POP3 (incoming) Server: pop3.live.com (port 995)
• SMTP (outgoing) Server: smtp.live.com (port 25)

Note: If port 25 has been blocked in your network or by your ISP, you can set SMTP port to 587 with TLS or SSL Encryption depending on the client in use
Please make sure to check the box that indicates that your outgoing server requires authentication (in most e-mail clients, this is not checked by default).

• Username: your full e-mail address
• Password: your Windows Live ID password

Also, our POP3 service requires that you use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) with the POP and SMTP connection and use SMTP authentication. This is to ensure that your e-mail address and password are not subject to tampering.

Tried all that. Also tried 587 instead of 25. Everything worked fine until I was required to change my password on Hotmail. After I changed my password that initial time, I have been unable to connect to my account using any email client, and can only connect via web browser.

I found what the problem was. When I changed my password the initial time, I also increased the length. The Change Password page does not mention length limitations, so the only way I found out was by noticing my password being truncated on the web page (could not enter anything after 16 characters).
